How to Create a Home Office When You Have No Space
A dedicated workspace at home allows you to set aside everyday distractions and focus on the work at hand. Whether you need a place to work your full-time job, your side hustle, or your own business, a home office can easily be yours--without sacrificing any space in your home. Before we jump in, let’s determine if you need a home office.
You might need a home office if:
You work from home and your paperwork is covered with PB&J and doggie drool
You spend too much of your day commuting
You want to spend more time at home, closer to your family
Your home–based business “office” is your kitchen table
Your customers/clients have to move laundry to find a place to sit
You can’t find office rental space within your budget
Your side hustle has overtaken the garage
You are spending more money on office space than it's worth
Now that you know why you need a home office, you are probably wondering where you are going to put it. The garage is full. The kitchen table isn’t an option. The bonus room has long been the kids’ playroom. You don’t have the time or money to add on to your home. What now?
Here’s the answer. A backyard shed. Before you dismiss the idea, hear us out. Here are some reasons why it’s the perfect solution:
It’s affordable—more affordable (and more practical) than a construction project.
It’s customizable. You choose the size, the configuration, the doors, the windows, colors, etc. of the shed.
Payment options are flexible. Choose from 90 days same as cash or rent-to-own if payment in full is not possible.
It doesn’t take away any of your household space
It adds value to your home
It’s flexible space that can also be used for entertaining and other purposes.
Are you ready to explore the idea? Here are some steps to get you started.
1 - Explore the Westwood Sheds Website
Check out our six shed models. If you’d rather watch, than read, check out our Video Library. There’s a walkthrough video of every Westwood shed model. You will definitely need an electrical package add-on and you may want to add a porch and extra windows. There’s a video for that, too, or you can visit the Packages page.
2 - Design Your Shed
This free online tool lets you virtually build your shed exactly the way you want it. Once you have a design, submit it for a free quote. You will receive a quote from your local Westwood representative and it will be locked in for 30 days.
Consider optional add-on features to enhance the design. A front porch gives your building a more residential style. Residential doors, cupolas, and flower boxes accent the design. Transom dormers allow additional natural light into the building.
3 - Visit a Westwood Sheds Location
Our team can help you with your design and get your home office shed started. Delivery and set-up are always free within a 30-mile radius of any of our eight locations.
4 - Plan for Interior Upgrades
We leave the building all set and ready for you to finish it out as you’d like. You may have the DIY skills to install insulation, drywall, and flooring on your own or maybe you prefer hiring someone local to add the final touches. While your home is being built, have fun selecting your furniture and décor. Your new home office will be ready in no time!
